It’s the classic opening to every great adventure—but this time, it’s real. On June 14th, step through the doors of the Old York Historical Society and take your seat in an authentic 18th-century tavern for an unforgettable afternoon of Dungeons & Dragons.

Whether you're a seasoned hero or a curious commoner, there is a seat at the table for you.

Choose Your Quest

We are hosting multiple tables led by experienced Dungeon Masters:

• The Veteran Tables (Ages 18+): Two tables for experienced players. A 5+ hour deep dive into dungeon delving.

• The Apprentice Tables (Ages 12+): Two tables perfect for beginners or younger players. Fast-paced, 2-hour introductory sessions.

🕒 The Schedule of Events

• 12:00 PM: Introductions & Socializing (Meet your party!)

• 12:30 PM: Adventure Begins! (+ 1st Apprentice Table Session)

• 2:30 PM: Short Rest / Socializing

• 3:00 PM: The Journey Continues (+ 2nd Apprentice Table Session)

• 5:00 PM: THE DRAGON MEGA-BATTLE. The veteran tables combine for an epic, high-stakes conclusion.

1st level pre-generated characters will be provided for the Apprentice Tables. The Apprentice tables will feature different adventures, so players are welcome to purchase tickets for both sessions if they would like a longer experience. 

4th level pre-generated characters will be provided for the Veterans Tables, or you can create your own using these guidelines.

Tickets Prices:

Veterans Table: $40 (Early Bird price of $30 until May 15th) +$2.25 booking fee

Apprentice Table: $30 (Early Bird price of $20 until May 15th) +$2.00 booking fee 

Our Dungeon Masters: 

Will Ethridge (Apprentice Table DM): Will has been running games of Dungeons & Dragons since he got his hands on his first boxset in 5th grade back in 1993. He now runs game multiple times a week in several capacities: at his job teaching 8th grade language arts, at Diversions game store in Portsmouth, and online at Start Playing Games. He also is a guide at the Old York Historical Society and the creator of You Meet at a Tavern. He loves the unique alchemy of creativity and camaraderie found in tabletop role-playing games. 

Matthew Dow (Veteran Table DM): Matthew Dow picked up a D&D Starter Set with his then 7 year old son during COVID and has since run games for kids and adults alike, both at home, and publicly, recently picking up the torch as one of the DMs at Diversions in Portsmouth. His experience as a high school mathematics teacher and his love for the theater are a natural combination for storytelling and probability. 

Mathew Timms (Veteran Table DM): Mathew Timms has been running games publicly since 2017 and has been witness to countless hours of fun and creativity while serving their community. Their experiences in multiple theatrical productions, dedication to fair play, and natural goofiness have served them well in honing their skill as a GameMaster. Mathew now runs home games for friends and charity events with enthusiasm and passion!
